Legislation
HF1438 prohibits public safety commissioner from complying with the Real ID Act.
SF0984 Real ID Act compliance prohibition.
Update
An FYI on REAL ID and Minnesota. A small group of us are working diligently in Minnesota to apply pressure on the House
to pass a bill prohibiting the implementation of the REAL ID. The Senate has already passed such a bill. It depends on the
House now.
Here's where we are today:
The state senate passed S.F. 984 which says:
"S.F. No. 984,
1st Engrossment - 85th Legislative Session (2007-2008) Posted on Mar 23, 2007
A bill for an act relating to drivers'
licenses; prohibiting commissioner of public safety from complying with Real ID Act.
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE
OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA:
Section 1. NONCOMPLIANCE WITH REAL ID ACT.
The commissioner of public safety is
prohibited from taking any action to implement or to plan for the implementation by this state of those sections of Public
Law 109-13 known as the Real ID Act.
EFFECTIVE DATE.This section is effective the day following final enactment. "
The
House file is H.F. 1438. We are working hard to get this bill into hearings and to a vote this session.
